Raw truth of Respect

“If we lose love and self-respect for each other, this is how we finally die.” Maya Angelou

I am appalled! Appalled at the way we as the American people are acting. Like him or hate him he is our next President elect. What happened to respect for one another and respect for yourself? I am in utter shock the way people are acting. Our country in not dying, we will continue moving forward just like we always have. Just like we always will. May I remind everyone of how we were raised? To show respect for your fellow citizens no matter what race, gender, or beliefs. We may not have the same beliefs but we all have the same goal. To see this country flourish and to show and teach our children about respect and honor for this country.

The hate that is being spewed all over social media outlets is downright mean, nasty, and completely out of line. Who are you to tell someone they are not educated because of their beliefs? Who are you to de-friend someone because of their beliefs? Who are you to criticize and chastise someone for wanting to see a change? WHO ARE YOU? Let me tell you a few things about me. I am a 39 year old wife, mother, daughter, sister, business owner, cancer fighter, friend, and I am a human being. Who are you to question my integrity and my beliefs? I am not questioning you, I respect you as a person and as a citizen who has their own beliefs and ideals.

When did it become so bad that an election has people taking a day off to cry and spout negativity across the world? When is it ever ok to burn our flag because of a elected official? Let me put things into perspective for you. This morning I woke up from my chemo filled fog knowing that this brain tumor is a point of contention until we can get a doctor to perform a necessary procedure to be able to move forward. I still got up, got dressed, and worked. I woke up knowing that no matter what name was displayed on my television as the next President of the United States that it was in God’s hands. Just like my Cancer. I have left my 11 year battle up to God and positive thinking. I will continue to do the same for the fate of our country.

I spoke with my daughter about the election results and we spoke about how the process works. There was no worry about how she would handle it. I have assured Mackenzie no mater what the outcome of this election it doesn’t change how we treat people. She is reminded everyday she can be anything she puts her mind to. This election did not derail any of that. We have had open conversations about the presidential candidates and we have spoken in length about this country and how we remain positive in the face of negativity.

I have never spoken about my political views as I felt and still do that it is my business. Between me and the ballot box. I have done my research and studied the candidates. I chose on my beliefs and what I hoped to see happen. The things that mattered and affected me and my family. I do NOT judge any of you for having your own views and and your own beliefs. I still respect and admire many of you who have changed my life because of your spirit and integrity. What we need right now is faith and understanding. Please take this article for what it is, an article to put into perspective this country will flourish because of us, the American People. Our voices make a difference. But let our voices be the voices of reason, rationality, and respect. Respect for our fellow citizens, friends, and for ourselves.

“Respect other people’s feelings. Even if it does not mean anything to you, it could mean everything to them.”- unknown

All My love to you my FABulous Fighters,

Fab xoxo
