A hidden gem along busy Rte 28 in Salem NH is Bien Soigne and their Himalayan Salt Cave. I had been doing some research on Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and thanks to the Big Brother-esque ways of social media, Facebook started showing me advertisements for salt caves. I decided to check out this local establishment and was amazingly surprised at the benefits and how long they lasted.
The experience in a nutshell: you enter the cave wearing comfortable clothes and can opt to have blankets. The room is set at 75 degrees, but as you relax you start to feel cold despite the warm, ambient temperature. The walls of the room are lined with 18 tons of the Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and glow from the back lighting. You settle in for 45 minutes of peaceful relaxation and meditation. They have music playing though I opted to use my own meditation music. I reached new levels within my meditation practice within this cave, the deepest I have achieved so far. Once my session was over I was not only relaxed, but full of energy and a sense of being renewed and rejuvenated. This feeling lasted for a solid 2 days after my session. Below is some information directly from the Bien Soigne website as well as a link to be redirected there.
Sometimes called halotherapy chambers, the Salt Cave is designed to provide a relaxing experience with multiple healing benefits. Reduce stress and improve sleep patterns
Help with joint pain and stiffness
Our cave has 18 tons of pink Himalayan salt – mined, custom cut, and shipped to New Hampshire. We have tiled the walls of our cave with this special salt, and have also added a halogenerator which heats, crushes, and disperses micro-particles of the salt into the cave. The concentrations of salt particles can be adjusted for varying respiratory issues. Bacteria or viruses cannot live in this high concentration of pure Himalayan salt and therefore cannot be spread through the air to other guests in the cave.
