Michelle McEwan is not only stunning on the outside, but she is equally as stunning on the inside. Her warmth, kindness and compassion are obvious when you speak with her. It has been an honor to meet and work with you Michelle! Please help us welcome your Miss NH USA 2018 Michelle McEwan!
Q: Where are you from? Where do you call home?
A: Born in Bangkok, Thailand and living in Portsmouth, NH.
Q: What do you do for “work”?
A: I am a Realtor covering NH’s beautiful Seacoast and Southern Maine. I am also Miss New Hampshire USA 2018 and busy preparing for the Miss USA competition in May.
Q: How long have you been doing this?
A: A year and a half in real estate and was crowned Miss NH USA last October.
Q: How did you get started?
A: I graduated with a degree in hospitality management and went on to complete the management in training program with the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts Thailand. Upon returning to the States, I knew I wanted to go back into sales and working with people, but was also looking for something that provided me a work/life balance. Real estate was my answer and I absolutely love it!
Q: What inspires and motivates you?
A: I was inspired to compete for the title of Miss NH USA while watching last year’s Miss USA pageant. The pageant was aired on Mother’s Day and I decided to compete in honor of my mom who passed away from cancer two years ago. Preparing for Miss NH USA motivated me to change my lifestyle and I focused on becoming stronger both physically and mentally. I remind myself of the strength I witnessed in my mom to help push me to be the best version of myself and hope she is proud of my accomplishments thus far.
Q: What tips do you have for anyone looking to get into the same thing?
A: For me, it was never about winning or losing, it was about the journey and experience of bettering myself. Work hard, be true to you, and never lose sight of why you started. At the end of the day only one girl will walk away with the crown, but I think it’s also important to walk away having gained confidence, interview skills, memories and life long friends.
Q: What distracts you from your goals? How do you overcome those distractions?
A: If I don’t allow myself a break periodically, I will reach a point where I no longer want to do anything. So I schedule in time for myself and to spend with friends and family! Having a balance is key!
Q: Do you have any daily routines or rituals that help you to be at your best?
A: I always make sure I start the day with a healthy breakfast, a cup of coffee, and read the news in my bathrobe. No matter how early I have to get up to do this! It truly sets the tone for the rest of my day.
Q: What are your non-negotiables in life? How has keeping these things a priority helped you to be successful?
A: Spending time with people who love and support me is my number one priority. These are the people who are my cheerleaders, who pick me up when I’m down, who will be there for me no matter what. This can sometimes be challenging with a packed schedule between work and pageant, but I wouldn’t be successful in either if I didn’t have the best people behind me.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: Traveling and exploring the world is my passion. I enjoy experiencing new cultures and cuisines, living like a local, and appreciating history and architecture of countries I visit. When I am home I spend my time skiing, kick boxing, volunteering, and being at the beach on a summer day.
