The other day I read an article about a woman who was speaking about being a cancer survivor. She stated from the minute of diagnosis that she became a survivor. This was very interesting to read, as I have questioned many times if I am considered a survivor with the metastatic state I live in.
National Cancer Survivors day is about so much more than just being a survivor. Not only are we bringing attention to the many men, woman and children who have battled but we are also recognizing the challenges that go along with a cancer diagnosis. In my opinion cancer is one the scariest words you will ever hear. Cancer for most, is about the unknown, and about the word changing your world.
Today as we celebrate life and the challenges that have changed us, I am reminded of how I look at surviving. Survivorship is a badge of honor, a symbol of strength, and a beacon of hope for the future. Fabulously Fighting continues to be my mantra and the way I live. I’m not only a survivor, I am a thriver!
All my love to you Fabulous Fighers,
