Signs and Symptoms – PTSD Awareness Month

June is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month.  As a survivor of sexual assault,  one might not be surprised that I suffer from PTSD.  Something my therapist brought to my attention, however, is that I also suffer from PTSD because of my metastatic state, facing my mortality for over 13 years while continuing to battle cancer and lupus.

This month we will bring you some helpful information on PTSD to hopefully shed some light on this invisible disorder.

Do you know the signs that you or someone you love is dealing with PTSD?  An estimated 1 in 10 women will develop PTSD and approximately 8% of the US population (roughly 24.4 million people) are dealing with PTSD at any given time.
