This boogie man is the real deal

Back to school means back to colds, coughs, the flu – yuck.  September is also the time to become more aware of the real Boogie Man of childhood illness, Peditric Cancer.childhood-cancer-ribbon.png

Did you know that:

Only 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget goes to pediatric cancer.

Every day 46 kids are diagnosed with cancer.

Every day 7 kids will die from cancer.

Pediatric cancer kills more kids than cystic fybrosis, pediatric AIDS and asthma combined.

However, thanks to better therapies, more than 80% of U.S. childhood cancer patients now become long-term survivors.

There is hope for families out there – St. Jude Children’s Reasearch Hospital.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

For more information visit Saint Jude’s  site where you can apply, donate and learn more.
