5 Daily reminders
1. I am amazing
2. I can do anything
3. Positivity is a choice
4. I celebrate my individuality
5. I am prepared to succeed.
What if when we were born these 5 things were already engrained in us? What if the foundation of our life was built on these 5 daily reminders? How do you think our world would be different?
The past couple of weeks I have been struggling with my lupus flare, it has given me a lot of time to think and reflect. Sprinkled in between the lupus flare I have performed at the Be BRAVE gala, fed 50 people who are going through cancer treatment at the Hope Lodge in Boston, and been asked to come to the bedside of two of my fabulous warriors to hold their hands before passing. All of these events have significance to sharing this article. As I reflected on all of these events I started to realize how much filling my own cup helps when it comes to filling others. It starts with me and the words I tell myself. I wouldn’t be able to volunteer and fill the cups of others if I didn’t have a solid foundation of self love underneath me.
This has taken such a long time to finally understand and really get the concept of fueling my soul so I can be that beacon of light for others. I’m going to be completely honest, I struggle daily to fill my soul with words that fill instead of spill. No one is perfect and every set back is a set up for self improvement. Negative self talk is truly the root of evil, and can spiral quickly. It will drain your energy until you have nothing left. Believe me, I know all to well. But I also know how changing the dialogue we have with ourselves is the only way to truly be able to help others.
Everyday that I choose me is another day I get to share that light with others. To me that is what life is all about. I am honored that other people see me as that ray of light, the strong spirit, and the fabulous fighter. When I started to truly believe those things, was the day others saw those things in me. It is not selfish or ego driven to love yourself, to fill your cup and your soul. It is necessary. Your journey to love and acceptance isn’t about finding the one, it is about becoming the one. You all have the power to change your story; to change the words you tell yourself. You have all that power inside of you and it starts the minute you choose, You. SO my fabulous fighters let’s start with the 5 daily reminders. Put them on sticky notes and put them on your mirror. Speak them, repeat them, believe them. You are worth every bit of the love you so freely give to others.
Wrapping you all in Fabulous Light and love,
xoxo – Fab
