Meet our WCW and inspirational Boss Lady- Dr. Gretchen Frieling

I had the honor of meeting Gretchen at a charity event back in the fall. Right away we connected over ballet and family.  Gretchen is down to earth, humble and such an inspiration.  I have been following Gretchen through social media and continue to be amazed everyday with all she is doing. Not only is she running a thriving business, but is an advocate for non profit organizations, and continues to put her family first.  Please continue to read what an inspiration this Fabulous lady is below, and give her a Fabulosuly Fighting Welcome.

Dr. Gretchen Frieling

I have always been a go-getter. A go-getter with a ton of energy and passion. That passion was poured into dance, art, sports, school, and most importantly, my family.

Growing up, I always wanted to be the best. My father is a well-established vascular surgeon and my mother is a PhD, speech pathologist, turned attorney. I had a lot to live up to. School ALWAYS came first. And then play (which was usually dance).

walking white coat editedMy childhood in St. Petersburg, Florida consisted of dance, rollerblading, flute, tennis, and more! In high school, I attended the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and the Juilliard School for intensive ballet studies. I then moved up to Tallahassee Florida to get a Bachelor of Science at Florida State University. From there, I headed to Gainesville for medical school at University of Florida. After medical school, I matched at my number one choice for residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I completed my residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and then continued Dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Vermont Medical Center. It was here that I had my first baby girl, and yes, my husband was still in Boston. Lots of road trips happened that year!

After several years of practicing as a Dermatopathologist and reading skin biopsies from all over the country,  GFaceMD was born: a unique, boutique, client-focused aesthetic practice, founded on the core principles of professionalism, confidentiality, excellence, individuality, and philanthropy. Countless hours of training, seeing and treating patients, and advanced courses and education gave me the backing to start GFaceMD.2

I do believe my passions for life, art, and medicine seem to have all met in the most incredible way with the formation of GFaceMD. A combination of my perfectionistic qualities, photographic memory, intensive training, and love for people, are a couple of the qualities I give to my practice each and every day.  I focus my practice on a “less-is-more” approach when it comes to injectable treatments, such as neurotoxin and dermal filler injections. My goal is to make patients feel comfortable. To be able to tell me how they truly feel. GFaceMD a safe place where you come to be and feel beautiful.

238A2770.jpgI love to give back, and a charity near and dear to my heart is Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), as her husband, Grant, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the young age of 12. Each year, JDRF holds a Gala to raise awareness and funds for Type 1 Diabetes. In 2018, Dr. Frieling attended and had the honor of winning the live auction item to design a signature and one-of-a-kind shoe by Thom Solo, a Boston-based shoe designer that has designed shoes for Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Carrie Underwood, and more. Hence, the GFaceMD Signature shoe was born. A gorgeous rendition of black, gold, flowers, and style. Visit our Wellesley office to see this gorgeous piece of art in person. My family and I hope to start out own charity to support Type 1 Diabetes in the near future.

Fast forward to now. My husband Grant and I live in Wellesley with our two beautiful kids. I continue to practice as a Dermatopathologist, grow GFaceMD, and be a mother and husband in the best ways I know possible. As we both grow our businesses, we try to instill the best values in our kids as they grow up.
