Every year I joke and make a big deal of my Birthday. I start at the beginning of October telling my family it’s MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! We laugh and have fun with this silly theory. But in theory it is a celebration of life lived. Honestly every birthday, to me, is truly a gift. October 13th, National Metastatic Breast Cancer day and also my birthday. It’s ironic the disease that has no cure and is trying to end my life is the same day I celebrate my life.
So yes my Birthday is a big deal to me, it is a reminder of all the amazing things I have experienced, the moments I have shared with loved ones, the days through out the year that have made me the woman I am.
This year I have a new title: Doctor, which has taken me 13 years to accomplish. I walked in New York Fashion Week, I have partnered with many Breast Cancer organizations to make change happen with Metastatic Breast Cancer research, and just recently I was named the Global Ambassador for Naturopathic Medicine. I will be traveling the world speaking about my story and of course my passion of Naturopathic Medicine.
I continue to believe my purpose in life is to advocate for change within the medical community. That there is a place for the two worlds of medicine to collide and heal. That allopathic and naturopathic medicine will join forces and be the answer to our cancer crisis. That my story of survival will open eyes to the crucial need for numerous modalities of healing. There is no black and white to this disease or it’s cure, but allopathic doctors strongly believe it is.
There is need for change and that is what I want to focus the next year on. Educating, advocating, and to be the voice of change.
So my Fabulous Fighters- celebrate the days, the hours, the minutes, the seconds. Each one counts and each one should be celebrated. A year older is a year bolder. So let’s celebrate our lives more because in turn there will be more life to celebrate.
Wrapping you all in Fabulous light and love,
